shotahirama
is a Sound Artist/novelist from New York, US and currently live in
Tokyo, Japan. Inspired by Modern Art, Dada, Bauhaus and Postmodern
literature. Also known for the founding of the SIGNAL DADA, Edition
NIkO (NIkO Label), ENG (electronoise group) and JANDEATH. His musical
focus is characterized by digital synth and field recording with
computer software processing and improvisation, which generates a large
palette of possible sounds including; grainy textures, complex patterns
of smooth drones, and microscopic clicks and cuts. Shota, as a
solo artist or in other project, has released music on the following
record labels: Improvised Music From Japan (Japan. BOOK/CD compilation,
2009), Re-Records (Hongkong. CDR album, 2010), mAtter (Japan. BOOK/CDR,
BOOK/DVD, coming 2010), Symbolic Interaction (Japan. CD compilation,
coming 2010), and more.アートレーベルmAtterのパブリケーションに携わり、自らもshotahiramaの
名義にて執筆やオペラ脚本（古舘徹夫氏作品）の英訳、サウンドクリエーション等、文学から音楽へと「スリップストリーム」な作品／活動を多く展開する
ニューヨーク出身の作家、平間翔太。2010年にはセルフレーベルとなるSIGNALDADAを設立、ダダイズムの既成の秩序や常識に対する否定、攻撃、
破壊といった思想や、一部のポストモダン文学に見られる病的な反リアル、認知不協和（アムニジア、テンポラルディストーション）さらにはSF特有のテーマ
やモチーフに言語、シンボルやイメージの使用法等それらリット的ファクターに強くリンクしたデバイス作品を多く発表する。現在はfennesz
sakamotoの"cendre"ヨーロッパツアーの映像を担当したイタリア人映像作家Giuseppe la
spadaとのDVD作品がmAtterよりリリースを控えている。また今回は実の弟でありNHKフィルムフェスティバルやカンヌライオンズにてランナー
アップ賞を受賞、アムステルダムのHuis
Marseille美術館では蜷川実花や川内倫子らと共に作品展示を果たした映像作家kenhiramaとの兄弟ユニットでsound
folliesに出演する。

Ken Hirama is a Japanese-American Visual Artist whose works concentrates
mainly on short films, experimental videos, and photography.
In the
past he has been nominated for the NHK film festival,chosen as the best video done with the D90 on d90plus.com and recently won runner-up prize at Canne Lions.His film was shown at Huis Maresille Museum in Amsterdam along With Rinko Kawauchi,
Mika Ninagawa.
